Kindergarten Teacher Shares How She Saved 2 Students' Lives In The Elmina Plane Crash
The mother of the two siblings said that the teacher played a crucial role in saving her children's lives.
A quick-thinking kindergarten teacher's decisive maneuvering of her vehicle helped save her and her students' lives near Elmina, Sungai Buloh, Selangor, where a business jet crashed on Thursday, 17 August
The kindergarten teacher, Masikah Ta'ibah Zakaria, recounted her experience, stating that she and two of her young students were passing through Elmina just moments before the business jet crashed.
"I was driving from the kindergarten to drop off the two siblings as usual. Before the plane crashed, I noticed that the plane seemed as if it was 'landing' before the Elmina bridge. However, I didn't think much of it until I heard the plane's engine roaring loudly and close to my car," Harian Metro quoted her as saying.
Realising the imminent danger, the 25-year-old teacher instinctively hit the gas pedal and swiftly moved her vehicle past another car, which was later identified as the one driven by an e-hailing driver, who perished in the crash.
Moments after she managed to get her car out of harm's way, an explosion occurred behind them.
In the crash, 10 people were killed. The victims included eight people onboard the Beechcraft 390 Premier I business jet and two people — a foodpanda rider and a Grab driver — on the expressway.
The harrowing moment was captured on video and circulated on social media. The video shows Masikah's car speeding past the Grab driver's vehicle just moments before the explosion rocked the area.
Masikah, who is still shaken by the incident, expressed her gratitude for the miraculous escape
"I still can't believe I managed to escape that disaster, and I am very grateful that Allah protected me and the kids I was carrying. I believe Allah moved my heart to speed up that day, and I also consider this a warning for me to be careful and even more cautious," she said.
Meanwhile, the mother of the two siblings, known only as Lily, also shared her relief and gratitude.
She revealed that she had immediately performed a prayer upon learning that her two children, aged six and four, were safe. She expressed deep gratitude towards Masikah for her quick thinking and actions, acknowledging that the teacher had played a crucial role in saving her children's lives.
