King Breaks His Own Record With Winning Bid Of RM1.75 Million For 'FFF 1' Licence Plate
The King expressed hope that the proceeds from the bid would benefit the people.
His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, has won the special edition vehicle licence plate 'FFF 1' with a winning bid of RM1.75 million, breaking a record that he set earlier this year
The official Facebook page of Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar shared this morning, 20 June, that the special edition vehicle registration plate 'FFF 1' has become the property of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim.
"His Majesty hopes that the proceeds from the bid, which have been directed to the Federal Government, will be used to assist the citizens," stated the Facebook post, reflecting the King's decree.
His winning bid of RM1.75 million now sets a new national record for a vehicle number plate in Malaysia, surpassing the previous record of RM1.5 million when he purchased the 'GOLD 1' licence plate number
Sultan Ibrahim also acquired the 'FF 1' licence plate with a winning bid of RM1.2 million in June last year. At that time, it was the highest amount collected by the government for a single vehicle licence plate.
The King is known for his passion for collecting unique number plates
In 2016, he secured the 'F 1' licence plate with a winning bid of RM836,660.
On 8 February 2017, he obtained the 'VR 46' plate, reportedly as a fan of professional Italian motorcycle racer Valentino Rossi, acquiring it for a price of RM55,002.20.
The King also has an extensive car collection.
According to Bloomberg, Sultan Ibrahim and his family have a collection of more than 300 luxury cars. These include a Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06, Genesis G90 Limousine, Bugatti Veyron, Mack Super-Liner Sleeper, Morgan Three Wheeler, and even a Flintstone car.
