A former policeman in his 40s, who was fired from his job in 2022, allegedly wore his police uniform to commit crimes around the city

The former police officer was arrested last Friday on suspicion of misusing the police uniform.

Harian Metro reported that members of the police patrol car unit from the Sentul district police headquarters arrested the suspect on 8 March while conducting patrols near the Jalan Duta toll plaza.

The report comes after a viral video showed the suspect, wearing a police uniform with the rank of corporal and a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) vest, being apprehended by two officers.

The suspect had attempted to stop a car for an "inspection", but patrolling officers suspected something was amiss and began to question him

He was also seen riding a Yamaha motorcycle.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid confirmed that the suspect was dismissed from duty back in 2022

However, he did not provide any details about why the former police officer was fired from the job.

"The suspect has been arrested to assist in the investigation under Section 170 of the Penal Code for impersonating a police officer," he was quoted as saying.
