Chung Hua Middle School No. 4 in Kuching, Sarawak, has warned the public after scammers allegedly impersonated the school and its principal to solicit money from businesses and members of the public

According to See Hua Daily News, principal Johnny Kon said the school has recently received numerous reports from people who were contacted through text messages and other communication platforms by individuals posing as either the principal or representatives of the school.

The scammers allegedly attempted to solicit donations and obtain money under the school's name.

"We strongly condemn these criminals for using the names of the school and its principal to carry out scams. Their actions not only damage the school's reputation but also harm the interests of the public," Kon said in a statement.

He stressed that neither he nor the school would ever request loans, donations, purchases, bank transfers, gift voucher purchases, or any other financial transactions through phone calls, messaging apps, or social media

"If you receive any such messages, please remain vigilant, do not trust them, and verify their authenticity with the school or me personally to avoid being scammed," he said.

Kon added that scam syndicates are constantly changing their tactics and are now exploiting the public's trust in schools and educators to deceive victims.
