Lahad Datu District Police Chief's Teen Daughter Dies After Accidentally Shooting Herself

On Tuesday afternoon, 16 April, the body of a 14-year-old girl was found covered in blood at her home in Taman Tabanak, Lahad Datu

According to the New Straits Times, the victim — the daughter of Lahad Datu district police chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail — died after accidentally shooting herself using her father's gun at 12.42pm yesterday.

The English daily reported that at the time of the incident, Dzulbaharin, who was appointed as the Lahad Datu police chief on 1 April, was at the district police headquarters and reportedly left his gun at home.

His teen daughter is believed to have been handling the gun before the accident occurred.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed the incident, adding that the case is being investigated

"Further investigations are still underway and the public is advised not to speculate," he said.
