Malaysia Hits 4 Digits For The First Time With 1,228 New COVID-19 Cases In A Day
A new record.
A total of 1,228 new cases were recorded today, 24 October
Of the 1,228 new COVID-19 cases, 11 were imported.
This brings the cumulative total of infections to 25,742 and active infections to 8,966.
There are seven new deaths reported today, which has brought the death toll to 221.
Of the seven deaths, six were in Sabah and one in Perak.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) also recorded 671 recoveries.
Today's four-digit numbers are a new record for Malaysia
The last record high was reached on 17 October when MOH reported 869 cases nationwide.
The majority of new cases were recorded in Sabah
The North Borneo state recorded a total of 889 new cases today.
A total of 502 cases were recorded among inmates and staff members of the Seberang Prai Prison, the Penang Remand Prison, and the Tembok cluster.
The Klang Valley recorded 95 cases. Of which, 76 were detected in Selangor.
Kedah recorded 76, Penang 23, Labuan 21, and Perak 10.
Meanwhile, 82 cases are in intensive care, with 31 requiring breathing support.
