The Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) has placed 10 district areas across Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak under a Level 1 hot weather status following a sustained rise in ambient temperatures
According to the latest hot weather status update issued at 6am today, 8 June, the caution-level threshold has been triggered across multiple inland and northern districts as the region transitions deeper into its annual dry phase.
In Peninsular Malaysia, the caution-level heat conditions are primarily concentrated within six locations across three states
These affected areas comprise the districts of Machang and Kuala Krai in Kelantan, Kulim and Bandar Baharu in Kedah, as well as Larut and Matang alongside Kuala Kangsar in Perak.
Residents in these territories have experienced noticeably higher baseline temperatures over the past several afternoons.

Concurrently, the state of Sarawak has registered four districts under the same heat alert level
The affected administrative areas in East Malaysia include Marudi, Lawas, Sibu, and Kapit, where localised weather monitoring stations have recorded a sharp spike in atmospheric heat.
METMalaysia clarifies that the Level 1 classification is activated only when a specific geographical location logs a daily maximum temperature hovering between 35°C and 37°C for at least three consecutive days.

This ongoing spell of drier and warmer weather is highly typical for this time of the year, driven primarily by the prevailing south-west monsoon season, which spans from May to September annually
The macro-atmospheric conditions during this particular monsoon inherently suppress thick cloud formation, leading to prolonged sunlight exposure and reduced rainfall patterns across the country.
Fortunately, as of this morning, no higher-level heatwave warnings have been recorded anywhere nationwide.
In light of the rising temperatures, public health officials and meteorologists have strongly advised members of the general public to practice heightened vigilance and limit unnecessary outdoor exposure
Special emphasis has been placed on safeguarding highly vulnerable demographics, including young children, senior citizens, and individuals suffering from pre-existing chronic health conditions who are structurally more susceptible to heat exhaustion.
