Malaysia Records 375 New COVID-19 Cases And 5 Deaths In Sabah

The Ministry of Health has also recorded five new clusters.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has announced that Malaysia recorded 375 new COVID-19 cases today, 8 October

The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 371 local transmissions and four imported cases. This is the eighth day in a row that the country has recorded three-digit figures back to back.

Majority of the cases were recorded in Sabah with 271 new cases, Selangor with 36 new cases, and Kedah with 16.

The MOH has also recorded five new clusters - two in Sabah, one in Sarawak, one in Labuan, and another in Kuala Lumpur.

The country also reported five new deaths due to COVID-19 within the last 24 hours

All five deaths occurred in Sabah, and four out of five patients had a history of chronic disease.

The total death count in the country is now 146, or 1.02% of the total cumulative cases.

Today's number brings the total cumulative cases to 14,368

There are 3,703 patients currently infected with the virus in the country.

Among them, 60 COVID-19 patients are currently in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 20 require ventilator assistance.
