Malaysia Records Highest COVID-19 Daily Cases Of All Time At 287

All the cases recorded today are local transmissions.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) recorded 287 new COVID-19 cases today, 2 October

This is the highest number of COVID-19 daily cases Malaysia has ever seen, with the last highest being 277 cases on 4 June.

According to the MOH official Twitter account, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this has put the total cumulative number of cases at 11,771.

The nation recorded no death from the virus today, while there are currently 1,540 active cases.

22 of the active cases are in intensive care units (ICU), while four require ventilator assistance.

Kedah reported the highest number of positive cases at 129, and next was Sabah with 113 cases, then Selangor at 31.

Two new clusters were reported in Selangor - Seri Anggerik cluster in Hulu Selangor and Seri Setia cluster in Gombak.

Both the clusters' index cases have history of travel to Sabah.

As a result of contact tracing, 14 have tested positive from the Seri Anggerik cluster, and 38 are still waiting for results.

Meanwhile, three close contacts tested positive from the Seri Setia cluster, while five others are awaiting results.
