The Immigration Department has introduced a new option allowing Malaysians to choose between five- and 10-year validity periods when renewing their passports through the MyOnline Passport system

In a statement on Facebook, the department said the option takes effect today, 2 November, allowing Malaysians to choose the new passport validity period without having to visit an immigration counter.

The initiative aims to provide greater flexibility and convenience by allowing Malaysians to select a passport validity period that best suits their individual needs.

Previously, Malaysians could only renew their passports for a five-year validity period

However, new regulations that came into force in June this year allowed Malaysians to apply for passports with a validity period of up to 10 years.
