Alor Setar Bilal Was Set On Fire By Masked Attacker Outside Of A Mosque

The victim was about to perform the call for prayer when he was attacked.

A man was left with severe injuries after a masked attacker set him on fire in Alor Setar, Kedah

Sinar Harian reported that the incident took place earlier today, 19 February at around 6am.

The 65-year-old victim obtained burns all over the left side of his body, as well as his hands and face.

Amri Budin was about to perform the call for prayer when the attacker splashed oil on him and lit him on fire

The security guard at the mosque, 58-year-old Nordin Ahmad, witnessed the incident and told Harian Metro that Amri was crying in pain while other people tried to put out the burning fire.

"I saw a suspicious man on a motorcycle just hovering outside the mosque. Not long after that, I saw a bright flame and heard Amri screaming," he added.

Several men inside the mosque ran out to help the victim and called the police. Amri's son then arrived and rushed him to the hospital.

According to Astro Awani, he explained that they are currently tracking down the suspect and the case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code.

He also added that the victim obtained 25% burns and is receiving treatment at the Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah Burns Unit.
