Melaka Restaurant Busted For Hoarding Cooking Oil, Poor Hygiene & Mysterious Talismans
The restaurant received two fines for its actions.
A video of the Melaka Domestic Trade Ministry (KPDN) raiding a restaurant for hoarding packaged cooking oil has gone viral
According to a TikTok video posted by @kpdnmelaka, a joint operation led by Melaka KPDN director Norena Jaafar and Melaka Health, Human Resources, and Unity Committee chairman, Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem, uncovered the restaurant's act of concealing packaged cooking oil intended for public use.
"Merchants are not permitted to use packaged oil," said Norena after finding the packages carefully hidden in the kitchen.
The restaurant's hygiene was also scrutinised after food items were found placed on the floor
"When rats eat everything, they leave droppings everywhere, and that is unacceptable," said Ngwe, who observed the operation.
In the video, Norena also questioned the restaurant operators who will take responsibility if any diners suffer food poisoning and die as a result of the poor hygiene.
While not against any regulations, the KPDN officers also discovered multiple talismans in each corner of the restaurant
When questioned about the mysterious objects and drawings, the restaurant operators denied they were talismans.
People have humorously commented on the video suggesting that the talismans that were meant to draw in customers attracted the attention of KPDN officers instead.
"Using a talisman to attract customers, but KPDN showed up," said a TikTok user.
"Even though they used a talisman, they still got ambushed by KPDN," said another.
"The charm needs to be renewed, that’s why KPDN came," quipped a third user.
