Malaysia is expected to experience hotter and drier weather than usual until the end of March

According to a statement by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia), this forecast is attributed to a lack of rain for a prolonged period following the final phase of the Northeast Monsoon.

METMalaysia director-general Muhammad Helmi Abdullah said cloud cover and rainfall will be reduced across the country

This will be particularly noticeable in the northern regions of Peninsula Malaysia, namely Perak, Pahang, and Kelantan.

"Hot weather during this period is a phenomenon that occurs annually from February to May.

"During this time, the maximum daily temperature can exceed 35°C in the early afternoon," he said.

He added that the highest daily temperature recorded so far this year was 36.9°C in Chuping, Perlis, last week on 8 February.

Muhammad Helmi advised everyone to reduce water usage and limit their time outside to avoid being overexposed to the heat

He also urged the public to follow any health advisories by the Health Ministry and obtain the latest weather information from METMalaysia's official website and social media channels.
