The RM50 monthly MyKomuter50 pass, which offers unlimited rides on KTM Komuter services, is expected to be available from 1 December, or by 1 January 2027 at the latest
According to the New Straits Times, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the pass would be exclusively available to Malaysian citizens, who must use their MyKad to register.
"Applicants must be Malaysian citizens. They only need to use their MyKad to register and obtain the pass," he said during a press conference yesterday, 12 October.
The initiative follows public demand for a KTM equivalent to Prasarana's My50 pass, which offers unlimited rides on Rapid KL rail and bus services for RM50 a month.

Loke said Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) is still finalising the implementation details, including how passengers can purchase the pass through its ticketing system
"We want to make things easier for passengers and will look at the ticketing system with KTMB.
"If possible, it would be even better to make it digital. So, we are working on this with KTMB, but it will take some time," he said.

Loke explained that introducing the pass had previously been challenging because KTM Komuter services cover longer distances and have higher fares, requiring funding allocations and approval from the Finance Ministry
He described MyKomuter50 as offering good value for money, particularly for commuters who travel long distances daily.
For example, a single trip from Seremban to Kuala Lumpur costs about RM21. With the RM50 monthly pass, regular commuters could significantly reduce their monthly travel expenses.
First announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the tabling of Budget 2027 last Friday, 9 October, the pass is expected to benefit approximately 40,000 users.
Meanwhile, Loke said the government is also planning to improve KTM Komuter services. This includes introducing 12 new train sets in the northern sector as early as February 2027 and gradually increasing train frequency in the Klang Valley.
