Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's lawyer, Muhammad Farhan Muhammad Shafee, said he had not been informed of any payment towards his client's RM50 million fine

According to the New Straits Times, Farhan said he had received no instructions from Najib to pay the RM50 million fine, which is a requirement for the former prime minister to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest.

The lawyer was approached by reporters when he arrived at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex this morning, 4 November.

Farhan clarified that he was there for another matter.

"I have no instructions and am unsure of the current status. I have not received any instructions regarding the fine.

"I definitely have no information. Even if a third party wants to make the payment, I would be expected to be informed," said Farhan, who is also the son of Najib's lead counsel, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah.
