On Wednesday, 11 November, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah refuted the allegations of being afraid of dying from COVID-19 and avoiding ground activities

In his live conference, Noor Hisham said he had been in Sabah at the end of August to look into preparations for the state election. He also instructed Deputy D-G Chong Chee Keong to go last week.

"Therefore there is no issue that we fear death. As Muslims, we accept death wherever it happens, regardless of whether it occurs on the ground or not," he said.

"We can have disagreements but our main intention is to break the chain of COVID-19 infections to save our country from further cases and deaths."

During a Parliament session on 11 November, Tiong stated: "Only doctors and nurses were sent, they are not afraid to die."

"But is the D-G scared to die? Not even his deputy was there."

His remarks caused a heated argument between Jelutong MP RSN Rayer and Arau MP Shahidan Kassim, with the former being removed from the Dewan Rakyat.

Tiong later reiterated that he was merely conveying the voices of the people.
