One Policeman Stabbed To Death And Two Others Killed In Klang

A policeman was slashed to death and another seriously injured when they were attacked by a group of Indonesians while patrolling one of the crime hotspots in Klang early today.

The incident occurred around 5am while the two policemen, Kpl Raja Aizam Raja Mohd, 53, and Kpl Mohd Aidil Mustafa, 29, were patrolling the area in a police car.

They came across a group of five men and attempted to stop and search them.

South Klang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Kamarulzaman Mamat said the two policemen on patrol were confronted by five Indonesians armed with knives at Lorong Yusuf Shahbuddin 44D.

“They stopped the group and started to question them. One of the men became aggressive when the policemen arrested their three female companions,” SDCP Mohd Shukri told reporters at the Gombak police headquarters.

They proceeded to search these individuals when one of them grabbed the pistol of Kpl Raja Aizam and tried to fire the pistol at him.

“A scuffle ensued and one of the attackers grabbed a pistol belonging to Raja Aizam and tried to shoot Aidil but failed,” he said.

Fortunately the pistol jammed but in the ensuing tussle, Kpl Raja Aizam was stabbed with an unknown weapon.

“One of the suspects took out a knife and slashed Kpl Raja Aizam and snatched away his gun.

Aidil, who was badly injured in the scuffle, grabbed the pistol from the suspect and shot dead two of them before help arrived, according to initial investigations.

“The suspect tried to fire the gun but it failed to discharge. Kpl Mohd Aidil was slashed in the face and head with a sharp weapon but managed to grab the gun. “He shot and killed two suspects using his own gun,” SDCP Mohd Shukri said.

Another police team arrived at the scene to find Kpl Raja Aizam lying in a drain while Mohd Aidil had suffered head and face wounds.

A knife was found near where Raja Aizam had collapsed at the scene.

SDCP Mohd Shukri said a parang and Rambo knife had been recovered from the scene.

Raja Aizam was found slumped in a drain. He was rushed to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Mohd Aidil was also sent to the hospital where he was reported to be in critical condition.

Corporal Raja Aizam Raja Mohd, 53, died from injuries to the head while Mohd Aidil Mustafa, 29, sustained facial and head injuries in the 5am incident at Taman Sentosa, some 40km from Kuala Lumpur.

Kpl Mohd Aidil, 29, is receiving treatment for head and face wounds at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Four foreigners believed to be Indonesians, three of them women, have been arrested after a policeman was slashed to death in a scuffle with a group of foreigners at Taman Sentosa here.

He said that a man and three women were arrested on the spot, but added that the exact number in the group had yet to be ascertained. He did not say whether the four were nabbed by policemen arriving at the scene in two patrol cars shortly after.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the penal code for murder. Police are hunting for three other men still at large.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar who went to the hospital confirmed the case. "Attacking the police is too much and extreme. We are investigating the cause of the attack," said Khalid.

He added that incidents such as this resulting in the attack and slaying of policeman could not be tolerated and allowed to happen. "The police are issuing a stern warning to everyone, especially foreigners, to not to take the law in their hands," he said. "My personnel are working to trace the other assailants," he added.

Raja Aizam is survived by his wife and four children. His remains will be buried in his hometown in Kuala Kangsar, Perak later today.
