A woman in Taiping who was filmed setting a Honda RSX kapcai on fire to stop it from being repossessed could be paying a hefty price — she could be jailed for 14 years under Section 435 of the Penal Code
The woman, a pisang goreng vendor, pleaded guilty at the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court today, 30 December, to charges of committing mischief by fire at Jalan Masjid in Pokok Assam, Taiping last week.
The accused, Zainatul Rafeda Zainul Abidin, 43, made the plea before Judge Nabisha Ibrahim, who set 14 January as the date for sentencing, pending the presentation of case facts, reported Harian Metro.
She has been charged under Section 435 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum of 14 years' imprisonment and a fine, upon conviction.

FMT reported that the motorcycle belonged to Zainatul Syakira Amira Zaini, 22, believed to her daughter.
Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Fahmi Kamaluddin proposed bail at RM20,000 with one surety but legal aid lawyer Ng Wei Jun requested a lower sum, stating that Zainatul only earned RM1,000 a month and had to support her four children and her stroke-ridden husband.
The judge granted bail at RM4,000 with one surety.
On the day of the incident, when bank agents arrived to repossess the kapcai, the woman was seen pouring petrol over it and setting it alight
