"Please Have Common Sense" – KTMB Calls Out Men Who Ride In Ladies' Coaches
The admin of KTMB's Facebook page urged men to just use the regular coaches.
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is the next public transport company to call out behaviour that go against its rules.
This time, KTMB reprimanded male commuters who ride in women's coaches.
KTMB posted a video reel on its official Facebook page on 11 August, Thursday, depicting a woman's point of view when she enters the women's coach, only to find it filled with men.
The video features male passengers in the video, nonchalantly using their phones while sitting on the train's seats which are designated for women.
The distinctive pink "This is the ladies coach. Women only" sign is featured prominently in the video as well.
The social media administrator of the KTMB Facebook page wrote a plea to men who use its services, to please leave the ladies' coaches alone
"I [the administrator] don't ask for much. I ask for male KTM passengers to please use the other coaches," the administrator urged.
The video has since garnered over 58,000 views as well as 548 comments at the time of writing.
Netizens had lots to say about the issue in the KTMB Facebook comments section
Some netizens pointed out that female passengers actually don't use the ladies' coach that often and prefer to ride in the regular coaches.
"Admin, I always see the ladies coach having lots of empty seats. Many women enjoy sitting in the regular coaches," one user wrote.
KTMB responded by saying, "We will ask them [female passengers] nicely to prioritise filling up the ladies coaches."
However, other netizens pointed out that there should be authorities onboard the train at all times to prevent issues like these from happening
"Please have auxiliary police in the ladies coach. There are times where the gender in question (men) are either illiterate or suddenly hard of hearing. At times, I swear they become rocks when sitting in the ladies coach. Some even argue that they pay taxes and whatever. They will sit in whatever coach as they see fit," one user wrote.
"Please enforce rules and regulations consistently. Don't just witness the behaviour and upload the video on social media as a reminder only," another commented.
