Police Looking For Man In Uniform Carrying Suspected Imitation Rifle In Viral Video

Police are investigating a viral video showing a man dressed in military attire and carrying a suspected imitation rifle while walking through a residential area

According to New Straits Times, Gombak police chief ACP Ibrahim Husin said police received a report at 4.31pm on Monday, 22 June, at the Desa Jaya police station after the video began circulating on WhatsApp.

He said the incident is believed to have taken place in Taman Bukit Desa, Kepong.

Footage shared online shows the man walking along a quiet neighbourhood road at night while dressed in military-style clothing with what appears to be a rifle slung over his shoulder.

Ibrahim said police have opened an investigation under Section 140 of the Penal Code for wearing a soldier's uniform without authority

The case is also being investigated under Section 36 of the Arms Act for the possession and importation of imitation firearms.

He said those convicted under Section 140 of the Penal Code face up to three months' imprisonment, a fine of up to RM1,000, or both.

Meanwhile, offences under Section 36 of the Arms Act carry a maximum jail term of one year, a fine of up to RM5,000, or both.
