Police are looking for a man believed to have caused a commotion during Monday's National Day celebrations at Dataran Putrajaya
According to Malay Mail, Putrajaya police chief ACP Aidi Sham Mohamed said police have received four reports regarding the incident so far.
The police urged the man to turn himself in at the Putrajaya District Police Headquarters to assist with investigations.
"He barged through and shoved members of the public waiting for the seating area gates to open, causing a scuffle that made several individuals fall. The incident is believed to have occurred [on Monday] at 5am," said Aidi Sham.
The incident was captured on video and shared on Facebook, showing a man in an orange shirt confronting members of the crowd while waiting for the seating area to open
The two-minute, 17-second video shows members of the public telling the man that they had been waiting since 5am and were seated on the ground while waiting for the gates to open.
The man, who allegedly arrived later, was then seen moving to the front of the queue and confronting other members of the public before shouting at a police officer.
The Facebook page that shared the video condemned the incident, writing: "The country may have gained independence on 31 August, but that doesn't necessarily mean its people have gained independence in their thinking."
The police urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation
The case is being investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code for causing public nuisance, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities to transmit offensive or otherwise prohibited content, and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for insulting behaviour.
