Prison Inmates Can't Hold Back Tears After Scoring String Of A's In SPM 2023
The students said they did not expect such excellent results, given the difficulties of studying behind bars.

Two inmates from Marang Prison in Terengganu have proven that there are no obstacles to success, even within the confines of prison walls
According to Buletin TV3, Aiman (not his real name) could not hold back his tears upon checking his 2023 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination results.
The 20-year-old, who is currently serving a sentence of one year and seven months, scored 8A's in the national exams.
Meanwhile, another inmate, 20-year-old Asraf (not his real name), who is serving a seven-year prison sentence, was also emotional after obtaining 4A's.
The students of Sekolah Integrasi Marang said they did not expect such excellent results, given the difficulties of studying behind bars
"Compared to other students out there, I have no phone or references to study here.
"It was very difficult, but all I could do was try my best, pray, and focus while studying; the rest I left up to Allah," said Aiman.
He added that he was determined to achieve good results as he intends to further his studies after being released from prison.
Asraf said he was also proud and grateful to achieve his results, and said it was a gift to his parents
As the only inmates to sit for the exam last year, Asraf said he and Aiman always studied together and focused on lessons in class as they had no other learning resources in the prison.
"The success of my friend makes me more enthusiastic to take on life's challenges, and I hope we both get to pursue further education after being released," said Asraf.
Meanwhile, the director of Marang Prison, Mohamad Jusoh Ismail, said the school is proud of the boys for achieving their goals
"We are proud of our students as they study here with time and facility constraints. They achieved success with only the encouragement of their teachers and their own efforts," he said.
