The Sabah Public Works Department (JKR) has patched a pothole on Jalan Sandakan-Lahad Datu after a man planted a banana plant inside it as a protest

In a Facebook post on 30 January, Sabah JKR stated that a team of road maintenance workers were dispatched to the area to fix the pothole after images of it went viral on social media.

The department added that the pothole was successfully filled despite continuous heavy rains hampering the workers' progress.

According to Berita Harian, the pothole was located approximately 500m away from the site of a fatal accident involving a four-year-old girl, who lost her life when the Proton Iswara she was in collided with an express bus.
