Police are on the hunt for a man in Sabah who poisoned his five-year-old daughter

According to Astro Awani, the incident took place at the suspect's home in Kampung Bundu, Kuala Penyu.

Around 12pm on Sunday, 16 May, the 43-year-old man poisoned his child with herbicide and proceeded to choke her.

Police believe that the man did it out of anger after arguing with his wife who wanted to go back to her hometown

Beaufort district police chief DSP Yusoff Zaki Mat Yaacob told Berita Harian that when the wife asked to return to her hometown in Keningau with her children, the man objected.

"The man then gave the child a cup of coffee mixed with herbicide. The incident was revealed to the mother after their first child, an eight-year-old, told her."

After that, the man took his daughter upstairs before choking her.
