Sabah Student Who Climbed Tree For Internet Signal During Exams Now Pursuing Medicine
Veveonah Mosibin hopes to return to her hometown to serve her community.

Five years after gaining fame for sitting atop a tree to access the Internet for her exams, Veveonah Mosibin is now pursuing a medical degree at the Management and Science University (MSU) in Shah Alam
The Sabah student's dedication to her education, including climbing a tree to secure a stable Internet connection for her online exams, has clearly paid off.
According to the New Straits Times, the now 23-year-old, who went viral for her 11-minute YouTube video '24 Hours On Tree', is currently pursuing her passion for studying medicine, with hopes of becoming a surgeon one day.

However, she later realised it wasn't aligned with her true calling.
"It's a long story," she shared, "but an unstable mental state and depression can lead to poor choices that don't align with one's true abilities and passions.
"I began to lose interest during the COVID-19 pandemic, as we had to learn everything online. Marine science requires more hands-on, physical learning," she explained.
After graduating from UMS last year, she wasted no time and began her degree in medicine at MSU in October.
The student added that it has been a long journey since she went viral, admitting that the fame she experienced during the pandemic took a toll on her mental health
"I didn't expect the video to go viral," she said in an interview with The Star.
"There was a lot of cyberbullying, with some calling me an attention seeker.
"While it brought both pros and cons, I chose to focus on the positives. I was just happy to have contributed to my community in some way," she said, adding that she has recovered.
After Veveonah's treetop story went viral, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) upgraded the Internet infrastructure in her village, improving connectivity for her community.
Now, with her eyes set on new heights, Veveonah hopes to return to her hometown to serve her community as a medical doctor.
Veveonah took an online exam during her foundation year atop a tree in 2020.
