Sarawakian Man Found Dead On A Massage Chair While Waiting To Board His Flight

He was waiting to board a flight to Singapore.

Yesterday, on 12 July, a man was found unconscious on a massage chair while waiting for his flight at Miri Airport, Sarawak

38-year-old Niek Pick Huat from Bandar Baru Permyjaya was found dead at around 1.05pm.

According to Miri District police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, Niek was at the departure hall waiting to return to Singapore, where he worked as a cook.

Witnesses claim that Niek was on the massage chair for an hour before an immigration officer found him unconscious

The officer then alerted his supervisor, Malaysia Airports Berhad (MAB), and Medic Airport personnel about the situation.

“Initial investigations found that the victim was lying in front of a massage chair in the departure hall and was given breathing aid by the airport medic," said ACP Lim as reported by Borneo Post.

“Hospital personnel also arrived at the scene and provided emergency respiratory assistance or CPR,” he added.

Local authorities have classified the case as sudden death

The deceased has been sent to the morgue at Miri Hospital for post mortem.

According to ACP Lim, the morgue reported that a preliminary check-up on the body revealed that no foul play was involved, adding that the man had high-blood pressure.
