M'sian Gets Her Money Back After Spamming Scammer's Bank Account With 1 Sen Transactions
The woman recovered her defrauded RM53 after executing her plan.
A Malaysian has gone viral on X after sharing how she pestered a fraudulent online vendor into returning her money
In a post last Saturday, 28 December, @amuse_gueule shared that she was scammed after not receiving a RM53 product she ordered on Instagram.
The woman, nicknamed Mom of KL, realised she was not the only victim after reading Facebook reviews recounting similar situations.
"So, I did 20 transactions of 1 sen to the scammer's account late last night. They texted me and promised a refund.
"I got my money back this morning!" she wrote.
In one of the screenshots she uploaded, it can be seen that she labelled each transaction with "scammer" in the payment details
She said she communicated with the vendor — who does not have a website — on WhatsApp after expressing interest in purchasing a product through their Instagram account.
At the time of writing, her post has garnered over 1.8 million views on X.
Netizens applauded her clever idea, pointing out that tagging "scammer" in her 1 sen transactions could alert the bank to the account, pressuring the online vendor to refund her money.
