Selangor Reports More Than 1,200 New COVID-19 Cases
A total of 2,018 new cases were reported throughout Malaysia in the last 24 hours.
Selangor has reported a whopping 1,204 new COVID-19 cases within the last 24 hours
The numbers account for 59% of the total 2,018 cases reported today, 21 December.
Meanwhile, Johor reported the second highest number of new cases at 278, followed by Sabah with 247 cases.
One death due to COVID-19 was reported within the last 24 hours.
Malaysia's cumulative total now stands at 95,327 cases.
Out of Selangor's number of new cases, 263 cases were linked to three new clusters
The three new clusters reported in Selangor are the Pekapuri Cluster, Batu Besar Cluster, and Tower Cluster.
The Tower Cluster also includes cases reported in Kuala Lumpur and Pahang.
A total of eight clusters have been identified in the last 24 hours, which are:
– Tapak Bina Pelangi Cluster (Kuala Lumpur)
– Pekapuri Cluster (Selangor)
– Batu Besar Cluster (Selangor)
– Tower Cluster (Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang)
– Wawasan Cluster (Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur)
– Delima Cluster (Kuala Lumpur)
– J Bandar Cluster (Labuan)
– May Indah Cluster (Penang)
Meanwhile, Panasaonic Manufacturing Malaysia has reported that 116 of its employees at two manufacturing facilities in Shah Alam have tested positive
The electronics company will be temporarily closing its facilities from 21 December until 23 December for disinfection, on the advice of the Petaling district health office.
In a statement to Bursa Malaysia, the company wrote, "The Company had completed full screening of about 2,137 workers and employees and only 116 were found to be affected."
"The safety and well-being of our workers and employees as well as our community is of our utmost priority towards containing the situation."
