Selangor Govt To Double Its Free Internet Access Points By Year-End
More areas will get free Internet connectivity thanks to the doubling of WiFi Smart Selangor access points.
Selangor residents will have wider Internet access, thanks to the state government's decision to double the number of free WiFi Smart Selangor access points by 31 December
The plan will focus on remote areas and raise the number of access points from the current 828 to 1,600 in order to close the digital gap between urban and rural populations, The Star reported.
Public Amenities, Modernisation of Agriculture, and Agro-based Industry Committee chairperson Izham Hashim said that this project will priorities five areas.
"We concentrate on low-cost housing estates, temples, hospitals, community centres, transportation hubs, and state government structures," The Star quoted Izham as saying.
“However, the installation will also depend on the existing telecommunication infrastructure in a particular area."
The WiFi service will offer users Internet speeds of up to 8Mbps
This is according to Izham, who was responding to Pelabuhan Klang Assemblyperson Azmizam Zaman Huri.
