Student Arrested For Ramming His Mercedes Into A Traffic Cop In KL

The 25-year-old private university student will be charged in court tomorrow, 3 April.

A 25-year-old private university student has been arrested for ramming his car into a traffic police officer earlier today, 2 April

According to China Press, the incident occurred at around 8.11am today on Jalan Raja Laut, heading towards Dataran Merdeka.

The student was reportedly driving a Mercedes Benz E200.

The 22-year-old policeman was directing traffic before the car crashed into him

The Star reported that the victim only suffered light injuries to his leg following the incident. 

KL Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya said that the policeman has since been taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for his injuries. 

The 25-year-old driver, who was detained at the scene, will be charged in the Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex tomorrow, 3 April

He is being charged under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous driving. 

If convicted, the student faces up to five years in jail, and a maximum fine of RM15,000 as well as revocation of driving license for two years.
