Today, 9 November, the Kuala Lumpur High Court found Muar member of parliament (MP) Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman guilty of corruption

The corruption charges were brought against the former Minister of Youth and Sports in 2021.

High Court judge Datuk Azhar Abdul found him guilty of four charges involving criminal breach of trust, fund misappropriation, and money laundering after the defence failed to cast reasonable doubt against the prosecution's case.

Rafiq was entrusted with Armada funds amounting to RM1 million.

He was charged for committing a criminal breach of trust by misusing the funds at CIMB Bank Berhad, Menara CIMB KL Sentral, Jalan Sentral 2 on 6 March 2020.

The charges were filed under Section 406 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years' imprisonment with whipping and a fine upon conviction.
