My Pets Haven, an animal shelter in Setia Alam, needs the public's help in looking for a new home after finding out they are getting evicted

In an Instagram Story on Thursday, 18 May, the shelter said they were heartbroken to find out that they were served an eviction notice by their landlord, and have to vacate the premises by October this year.

It is heartbreaking as the animal shelter, run by 65-year-old Aileen Lee Sor Geok, fondly known as Aunty Aileen, has been operating at the same location for the past 12 years with a group of volunteers.

"Never did I think we would ever see this day of having this place close down before Aunty Aileen retires," wrote one of the My Pet's Haven team members on Instagram.

They added that they are looking for a new place, preferably around the Setia Alam or Bandar Bukit Raja area.

My Pets Haven first began as a pet shop, but Aunty Aileen, who loved animals so much, began taking in strays off the street

According to their website, after realising that people were more willing to adopt rehabilitated animals, the shop eventually become a haven for rescues.

Until today, the shelter has saved, vaccinated, sterilised, and rehomed over a thousand stray animals.

All of their rescue work is carried out independently and funded by Aunty Aileen's personal savings, donations from the public, as well as from pet food sales and grooming and boarding services.

As of now, My Pets Haven has 30 dogs and 40 cats under their care, and while looking for another place to move into, they hope kind Malaysians will give some of their furbabies a home

"We will be looking for another space to shift to with our animals, but as rehoming all 30 dogs and 40 cats in just a few months would be quite far-fetched, perhaps we could at least find some homes for our animals, to reduce the workload of relocating the animals when we finally move," they said.

"If you know anybody who is interested in adopting, do send them our way!" they added.
