A disoriented dog was stranded while all kinds of vehicles zoom past on a busy highway. It was a frightening situation, but three Malaysians decided to risk their lives to save that poor dog.

Free Malaysia Today reported that three strangers - a Malay, a Chinese and an Indian - took courage and braved the dangerous traffic to rescue the dog on the busy LDP (Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong) yesterday, 16 February.

According to one of the rescuers, identified as Anas Saiful Azhar, he stopped his car and joined a Chinese man who was already at the scene, trying to save a mongrel that was standing nervously along the divider.

The 36-year-old said that another Indian man joined their rescue efforts moments later.

It was not an easy task

"The three of us attempted to get the dog to cross to the side of the road, which proved to be very difficult. I think the dog was afraid of the oncoming cars," Anas told FMT.

They spent almost an hour trying to convince the furry being to follow them to safety.

Even when the dog resisted to be carried and even bit them due to its nervousness, Anas and his new buddies were relentless and kept trying until the dog finally calmed down.

It is said that the dog eventually rushed to the other side of the highway safely in a controlled traffic situation as the police have also joined the trio at the scene.

Responding to reporters' question if he thought about the religious restrictions on handling the animal, Anas opined that the circumstances during that situation go beyond the question of halal and haram

"In this situation, my only thought was of saving two lives — that of the dog who was trapped along this busy highway; and that of motorists who were passing by. For me that was the most noble thing to do," Anas was quoted as saying by FMT.

"I also liked the fact that we came together, regardless of race, to help save a life," he added.

Following the incident, netizens have praised the three unsung heroes for their selfless act
