Man Killed By Tiger While Going To An Outdoor Toilet At 5AM In Perak
The attack was witnessed by the victim's wife.
A tiger mauled a man to death while he was on his way to an outdoor toilet at a construction site in Bagan Balak, Perak yesterday, 15 October
According to Bernama, the victim was a 54-year-old heavy machinery operator.
Perak police chief Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said the incident is believed to have occurred between 5am and 6am when the victim left of the workers' quarters to use the toilet.
During the attack, the victim's wife, a Thai national working as a cook, heard a tiger roar. She quickly opened the door and saw the tiger dragging her husband into a bush.
The police were informed of the incident at 8.25am.
10 members of the Department of Wildlife Protection and National Parks (PERHILITAN) and several police officers rushed to the scene to conduct a search and rescue operation
At about noon, the victim was found dead approximately 100m from the workers' quarters.
The victim suffered severe injuries to his left leg and neck.
The case was classified as sudden death, and the victim's body was sent to Gerik Hospital for a post-mortem.
Perak PERHILITAN director Yusoff Shariff said a team has been assigned to conduct a stakeout and monitor the situation at the scene.
The wildlife department will also set up a special trap to catch the tiger.
Yusoff added that PERHILITAN has yet to receive any reports of a roaming tiger in the area, reported FMT.
