RELA Officers Shocked To Find Unclothed 3-Year-Old Girl Wandering Around Gunung Jerai
She was alone and wearing nothing but a pair of slippers and disposable diapers.
Four People's Volunteer Corps (RELA) officers were surprised when they found a three-year-old girl wandering around the foot of Gunung Jerai, Kedah, on 28 December
They were patrolling the area surrounding the popular hiking and camping spot around 3.30pm yesterday when they saw the child, Sinar Harian reported Yan District Assistant RELA Officer and RELA Superintendent Hamzah Zulkeffli as saying.
The officers approached her out of concern, as she was alone and wearing nothing but a pair of slippers and disposable diapers at the Gunung Jerai parking lot.
"After they investigated and found that the child's relatives were not present at the location, they sent the child to the Guar Chempedak Police Station for further action," Hamzah said.
Fortunately, the authorities managed to successfully reunite the girl with her family
"The case was reported to have been resolved and the girl has since been handed over to her next of kin who were already aware of her disappearance," Hamzah said.
The toddler is believed to have left home without the notice of her guardian, walking to the foot of Gunung Jerai, which is around 200m away.
"We advise parents or guardians to be more vigilant about their children's whereabouts to avoid any undesirable incidents from occurring," he added.
