Authorities are investigating an incident at i-City Theme Park in Shah Alam, where a float reportedly fell from its recently-opened glass water slide and struck a visitor

A video circulating online allegedly shows the float involved in the incident, claiming it fell off the 60m-high and 600m-long glass slide.

According to Free Malaysia Today, Shah Alam district police chief Iqbal Ibrahim said the incident occurred at around 11pm on Wednesday, 29 January, while the victim, a woman in her 20s, was visiting the theme park with her family.

"The victim was walking underneath the glass water slide when the float suddenly fell and struck her body. She was taken to a clinic and checked for any injury.

"Fortunately, she did not suffer any serious injuries," he said in a statement.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 337 of the Penal Code for causing hurt by a negligent act which endangers the life or personal safety of others

Additionally, Iqbal said preliminary investigations revealed that the glass water slide had not been approved for operation.

The police chief said the incident is also being probed under Section 6 of the Selangor Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment 1995 for operating without a valid licence.

According to Sinar Harian, MBSA corporate and public relations division head Mohd Azhar Mohd Sharif confirmed that a notice was issued to i-City Theme Park on 14 November last year to halt construction of the slide while it was being built, but the order was ignored.
