An official from Sabah Parks has assured that there were no casualties reported following a video of a landslide occurring on the slopes of Mount Kinabalu going viral

According to the Daily Express, Sabah Parks Director Dr Maklarin Lakim confirmed that a landslide occurred in the locality of Ulu Sg Mesilau within the Kinabalu Park this morning, 24 June.

However, the incident did not affect nearby villages, and was far from the popular climbing trails up the mountain.

"We are currently monitoring the development of landslides in the upstream of Mesilau river and its impact on river water flow. The situation is currently under control," said Maklarin.
