Earlier this week, a couple was seen in a video refuelling their Thai-registered car with RON95 at a petrol station in Rawang, Selangor
The Thai-registered car was seen entering the petrol station from the Thai border.
This has sparked outrage online, with Malaysians expressing their discontent over the apparent violation of regulations, as RON95 is a government-subsidised fuel meant for Malaysia-registered vehicles.
Adding to the controversy, one of the petrol station staff members is seen assisting the couple by pressing on the car's boot. This act, often done to facilitate the filling process, has drawn criticism from netizens as well, as it appears to be aiding in the misuse of subsidised fuel, reported the New Straits Times.
Malaysians have expressed their disapproval of the couple's actions and questioned the involvement of the petrol station staff
In the video uploaded on X, official government accounts of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli were tagged.

Many have called for accountability and adherence to the law in fuel subsidy distribution.
A spokesperson from the state government said the Selangor Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry is aware of the incident
However, as of now, there have been no official complaints or information received regarding the matter. The spokesperson assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted into the matter.
SAYS has reached out to PETRONAS for a statement but is yet to hear back.
