In an incident on Wednesday morning, 22 February, a woman, who had just fueled her red Toyota Yaris at a petrol station near the Cheras MRT, was robbed by two men who escaped on separate kapcais

According to dashcam footage captured from a vehicle waiting to enter the patrol station, the woman is seen walking towards the driver's side of her car to unlock the door to get in and drive away.

Unbeknownst to her, a man wearing a motorcycle helmet waits on the vehicle's front passenger side. As she unlocks her car, he quickly opens the door and snatches her purse on the front seat.

When the woman realises what had happened, the man makes a run for his motorcycle parked in front of the woman's car and rides away, followed by another rider, suspected to be his lookout.

The woman tries to catch the men but is thrown onto the road

According to the footage that has gone viral, the woman runs towards the escaping suspects and manages to grab one of them by his arm, but loses her balance and falls down.

As she tries to get up, the accomplice barely misses running over her legs with his kapcai.

The woman has since lodged a police report

Cheras district police chief ACP Zam Halim Jamaluddin asked witnesses with information to contact the Cheras police hotline at +603-92845050 or +603-92845051, or the KL police hotline at +603-21159999.

The losses have been estimated to be around RM500.
