Video Shows A Lorry Colliding & Killing 2 Men Who Were Changing Punctured Tyre On Roadside
One of the victims was an employee of the Ministry of Health (MOH).
On Thursday, 2 June, two men were killed on the spot while changing a punctured tyre on the roadside when a lorry collided with them
The accident happened near Bukit Rotan at KM11.5 of Jalan Kuala Selangor-Kuala Lumpur.
According to Kuala Selangor district police chief Supt Ramli Kasa, an initial investigation showed that a Proton Preve suffered a flat tyre and its 55-year-old driver pulled over to the roadside. At which point, a Proton Wira, driven by a 40-year-old man, came to the scene to assist the older man.
"Not long after, a lorry coming from Kuala Selangor is believed to have failed to avoid the two men and hit them, resulting in their deaths at the location," Ramli was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia.
One of the victims was an employee of the Ministry of Health (MOH)
The 55-year-old MOH employee, identified as Zaidi Baharin, worked as the administrative assistant at Negeri Sembilan State Health Department. He was on his way home from a working visit to Perak.
Zaidi left behind a wife and three children.
The other victim was identified as Zunairi Ahmad. He was single.
The lorry driver has been detained for questioning while the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987
A urine test on the 35-year-old lorry driver came back negative for drugs.
Meanwhile, dashcam footage that captured the accident has gone viral.
It shows the lorry attempting to dodge to the right after seeing the two men changing the tyre on the road's left shoulder. However, a Mercedes, coming up from the rear right side of the lorry's blind spot, causes the driver to try to dodge to the left and hit the two victims.
