A video of a woman saving her husband's life as he was being attacked by a parang-wielding man in Ipoh, Perak has gone viral

According to the timestamp on the video posted on Twitter, the incident occurred at 3.40pm on 17 April at Taman Pertama.

CCTV footage shows the couple about to enter their car when the attacker ran towards them

As the man fell to the ground, the attacker managed to slash him five to seven times.

While he was being slashed, the man's wife ran to his side, grabbed hold of him, and pulled him away

She waved her hands at the attacker to scare him off.

Caught off guard by her response, the attacker quickly fled.

The woman can be seen chasing after him for several seconds.

According to Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Ali Tamby, the victim is being treated at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun for his wounds, which were 7cm long and 4cm deep

The woman could not identify the suspect as he was wearing a mask.

However, she suspected that the incident is related to her husband's business, according to The Reporter.

This is contrary to a viral tweet, which claimed that the attacker was angry at the victim for asking him to put out a cigarette in a restaurant.

While several netizens were concerned for the man's wellbeing, many praised the woman for her quick thinking and unflinching bravery
