According to a report in The Star, the green-coloured tour bus rammed into vehicles at the traffic light junction of Jalan Kelicap near Setia Triangle in Bayan Lepas, George Town.
A 16-year-old student, who was working as a part-time pizza delivery boy, was killed in the accident
Southwest district police chief Superintendent A A Anbalagan said the victim died at the scene. He was identified as Muhammad Saifullah Muhammad Hafiz.
Astro Awani quoted him saying that the victim, who was working part-time at a fast food restaurant, was on his way to deliver food to customers before he was hit by the speeding bus.
It is believed that the bus lost control due to faulty brakes and crashed into four vehicles including the student, who was on his motorcycle
According to Astro Awani's report, two children who were in a Suzuki Swift was hit by the speeding bus also sustained injuries.
The bus driver, aged 49, has been detained to facilitate investigations
Supt Anbalagan said that the bus driver was arrested under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
The driver also sustained injuries in the accident and was sent to the hospital along with the two children in the Suzuki Swift, reported New Straits Times.
