Facebook videos showing a pinkish 'tornado' swirling in Johor have recently gone viral

We are Malaysians posted videos of the incident which allegedly took place on Sunday, 29 September at Petronas' Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project in Pengerang.

The person recording the video was seen driving through the 'tornado', as dust particles and water appeared to hit the car windscreen

The 'tornado' could also be seen from a different angle in another video posted on the same day, 30 September.

The videos received over 14,000 and 12,000 views respectively at the time of writing.

It is uncertain what caused the 'tornado's' pinkish hue, but one person attributed it to chemical pollution

Another called the 'tornado' a 'dust devil', which is a whirlwind containing sand or dust that goes in a vertical motion, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
