Woman Allegedly Involved In Fraudulent Balloon Decor Business Nabbed By Shah Alam Cops
The fraudulent business had been operating since July and charged customers a minimum fee of RM500 for its services.
Shah Alam police have arrested a woman believed to be involved in a fraudulent balloon-decoration business
According to Bernama, the woman in her 30s was nabbed at a condominium in Kerinchi, Kuala Lumpur, at 4.30am on Saturday, 3 December.
The arrest followed a report lodged by one of the business' customers who alleged that she was scammed out of RM700 after hiring them for party decorations only to not receive anything.
The fraudulent business was operated on Instagram under the username @thepartyfairy.my.
Numerous branded items were also confiscated from the woman's apartment
Among the items seized by the police were several computers, an iPad, several pairs of branded shoes, handbags, and documents.
Shah Alam police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said in a statement that the suspect had been operating the balloon-decoration service since July. The woman was believed to have been charging her customers a minimum fee of RM500 for her services.
According to Iqbal, the woman was also believed to be involved in six other cases in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur
She will be remanded to aid in police investigations under section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating an dishonesty.
If found guilty, the suspect could face a maximum jail sentence of 10 years, or a fine, or both.
