Woman Comes Back To Her Hotel Room In Kelantan Only To Find A Man Hiding In The Closet
The man claims that he has been scammed by someone.
Recently, a woman who came back into her hotel room in Kelantan was shocked when she opened the closet only to find a man hiding inside it
The woman took to her TikTok account, @dobidina.hq, to share the absolutely frightening experience.
According to a minute-long video posted on 7 May, the incident took place on Thursday, 5 May in one of the rooms at the Perdana Kota Bharu, Kelantan. The video has since gone viral with over a million views.
The luxury hotel is part of Attana Hotels & Resort.
When questioned by the woman, the man — who is in his early 20s — claimed that he has been scammed and that he was supposed to meet a woman named Sarah, whom he had already banked in money.
Incidentally, the woman who posted the TikTok video is also named Sarah.
In the video, the woman continues to demand to know from the man who he is and what he is doing inside her room, where she has been staying with her family. She also states that she's a regular at the hotel and this sort of incident has never happened before with her. The man avoids answering her questions.
According to the woman, there was a 'Do Not Disturb' sign placed outside the room.
Following the incident, the hotel has released a statement
In the statement posted on both its Instagram and Facebook page yesterday, 7 May, Perdana Kota Bharu general manager Mohd Iqmal Muslim said that the unfortunate incident "is an isolated incident".
According to Mohd Iqmal, the suspect has been arrested by the police.
"As this is an ongoing investigation by the police, we are unable to comment further at this stage. The management would like to assure our hotel guest that safety and security is our utmost priority," he added.
Meanwhile, in a statement last night, Kota Bharu district police chief ACP Mohd Rosdi Daud confirmed that the man has been arrested
In the statement, Rosdi said that the incident happened at around 10.30pm when the woman and her family came back but were unable to open the room door through their access card.
The family then contacted the hotel staff, who accessed the door for them. Upon entering, an unidentified Malay man was found inside the room, leaving the woman and her family in shock and confusion.
According to Rosdi, the man works as a security guard
A preliminary drug screening on the suspect came back positive for methamphetamine.
The suspect also has three previous records related to drug offences, Rosdi stated.
He has since been remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code, a mechanism that allows the detention of a suspect for more than 24 hours to enable the police to complete their investigation.
An investigation is being carried out under Section 448 of the Penal Code for house-trespass.
