National shuttler Ng Tze Yong is coming home with a silver after the badminton men's singles finals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham today, 8 August

The 22-year-old lost to India's world number 10 Lakshya Sen 21-19, 9-21, 16-21 in the gripping, 81-minute gold-medal match at the Birmingham Arena.

It is still an incredible medal finish, given that it was Ng's debut appearance at the Commonwealth Games and his young age

The world number 42 had unexpectedly toppled Singapore's reigning world champion Loh Kean Yew in the quarter-finals and former world number one Srikanth Kidambi of India in the semi-finals on Sunday, 7 August, to reach the final match.
