25,000 Cyber Defenders Needed To Fight Cyber Threats By 2025
According to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Malaysia is on track to achieving this target.

Malaysia needs 25,000 cyber defenders to address cyber security challenges in the country. Thankfully, we're on track.
According to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the collaboration with Blackberry Limited's Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE) will help Malaysia reach the required figure.
The CCoE, which focuses on enhancing national and regional security, is emerging as a hub for capacity-building, combating cyber threats, and fostering international partnerships, particularly in AI and machine learning.
"The CCoE is a milestone in our journey towards creating a robust cybersecurity ecosystem, necessitating strong partnerships across the public and private sectors," Anwar said, according to New Straits Times.
"We commend Blackberry for helping to upskill our next generation of cyber-defenders, accelerating our goal to bolster national and regional security and innovation."
Anwar said Malaysia just needs 12,000 more cyber defenders to reach the target of 25,000 by 2025
"Malaysia has a shortfall of 12,000 cybersecurity professionals. We need 25,000 workers in cybersecurity by 2025," he revealed.
"We envision this centre as a capacity-building hub for the wider Southeast Asian region, with a specific focus on enhancing threat intelligence sharing, and fostering regional cooperation in mitigating cybersecurity threats and combating cybercrime," Anwar said during the opening ceremony of the CCoE in Kuala Lumpur today.
The centre's curriculum, which includes courses by the SANS Institute, is designed to upskill professionals and offers scholarships for women in cybersecurity.
