AEON Bank (M) Berhad is set to begin its digital banking operations in Malaysia
The bank has received approval from Bank Negara Malaysia and the Finance Ministry to commence its digital banking operations.
AEON Bank is the first Islamic digital bank to launch under the new digital banking framework
AEON Bank Chief Executive Officer Raja Teh Maimunah said the bank's core mission was to advance the promotion of financial inclusion and Islamic banking.
"As part of one of Malaysia’s most recognised retail household brands, we aim to provide accessible, inclusive, and Shariah-compliant digital banking solutions to our AEON Group of customers as well as to all Malaysians. It is our intent to empower our communities with access to digital financial services which are simplified, safe and secure," she said.
AEON Group aims to expand and enhance its services for both retail and wholesale customers
AEON Bank also expressed belief that the digital technology would introduce new and innovative products, enhancing overall value for its diverse customers and ecosystem partners.
AEON Credit Managing Director Daisuke Maeda said this is marks a major milestone for the group.
"This momentous occasion marks a significant leap forward in redefining financial services provided by the AEON Group and reaffirms our commitment to continuing our support for financial inclusivity".," he said.
