Ubisoft's upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows has surfaced online ahead of its official release, prompting a response from the French video game publisher

The title, set in mediaeval Japan, is slated for launch on 20 March after multiple delays.

In a statement on X, Ubisoft acknowledged that some players had gained early access to the game.

Ubisoft urged fans not to share spoilers for the game

"We are aware players have accessed Assassin’s Creed Shadows ahead of its official release," the company said on X.

It also noted that developers are still fine-tuning the game, meaning any leaked footage may not reflect the final product.

The leaks come at a sensitive time for Ubisoft, which has been navigating a series of financial setbacks

Originally scheduled for release last November, Assassin’s Creed Shadows was delayed twice, ultimately landing just before the close of the company’s fiscal year.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft’s latest earnings report revealed a sharp drop in revenue, weighed down by underperforming new releases and the prolonged wait for its flagship title, according to AFP.
