Dyson has made plenty of gadgets over the years, but an electric toothbrush with a built-in camera and AI probably wasn't on anyone's bingo card

The company has just unveiled the Dyson CameraJet, a high-tech toothbrush that uses a tiny camera to detect the gaps between your teeth, then shoots mouthrinse directly at them as you brush.

The toothbrush was unveiled by James Dyson in Paris on 1 September after six years of development.

The CameraJet has a 100,000-pixel macro camera that scans 28 images every second

Its AI system identifies, tracks, and predicts the gaps between your teeth in real time.

When it spots one, the toothbrush can fire a small burst of mouthrinse at it within 100 milliseconds.

According to Dyson, the machine learning system was trained using 470,000 dental images and runs on 16 million lines of code.

There's also a 12.5ml mouthrinse tank built into the toothbrush, so it can rinse between your teeth while you brush instead of making you do it as a separate step.

The camera isn't only there to help the toothbrush find gaps

It can also give you a live view of your mouth through the MyDyson app, along with brushing and flossing insights, coverage mapping, guided cleaning, and personalised feedback.

Dyson says the camera only activates during live viewing or automatic jetting, and images aren't stored on the toothbrush or in the cloud.

The CameraJet comes with a dual-bristle brush head, with firmer inner bristles for surface stains and softer outer bristles for cleaning along the gumline

There's also a sensitive version for those who prefer a gentler clean.

Dyson has developed its own sonic brushing technology, which changes the angle of the bristles as you brush to help keep them moving against your teeth.

It also comes with its own low-foaming toothpaste and mouthrinse, available in Ginger Mint and Spearmint, with a Peppermint Sensitive toothpaste option.

There's no Malaysian price or launch date just yet

Dyson says the Dyson Dental System will be available in Malaysia subject to market availability, with pricing still to be confirmed.

According to reports online, the Dyson CameraJet is being sold for USD499.99 (RM2,015).
